The Norwegian Elkhound is a medium-sized dog breed that originated in Norway. These dogs weigh between 45-60 pounds and have a thick, grey coat that is weather- resistant to withstand the harsh Norwegian climate. The breed is known for its stamina, strength and hunting prowess with large game—including elk, of course! This strong prey drive can make the Elkhound an unideal match for households with small pets. These dogs are loyal and affectionate with their family members.
