The 12-16-pound American Hairless Terrier often sports eyebrows and whiskers, but not much else except for a sleek spotted hide and dark head. A good choice for dog lovers with allergies, the Hairless Terrier has that classic inquisitive, energetic Terrier vibe. Protective and always alert, these fearless dogs do need special care in cold weather and bright sun due to their exposed skin. Slather on some doggy sunscreen for summertime walks and consider a pet coat for the winter.

Alaska is home to some of the great natural wonders of the world, and thanks to its dog-friendly culture, you can experience many of them together with your dog! Hike the trails at the Far North Bicentennial Park in Anchorage, or the Tongass National Forest in Juneau. Your dog will also love spending an afternoon at Connor’s Bog Dog Park in Anchorage, or at the Lake Lucille Dog Park in Wasilla. If you haven’t brought your own dog with you on an Alaskan holiday, look into special hiking (or sledding) excursions with cold-weather Huskies!
