Though the smallest of the poodles, Toy Poodles have the same temperament as their bigger counterparts. They are very smart, playful, and confident. Although they love to play, they can be apprehensive about little children, and so are best suited for families with older children. They make great companions for older couples and love to hang out with their owners. They grow up to weigh less than 9 lbs and can live up to an incredible 18 years!

A Toy Poodle will usually cost between $1,000 and $2,000 from a reputable breeder, with varying costs depending on color, size, and pedigree.
Toy Poodles can make excellent house dogs due to their highly adaptable and intelligent nature which makes training quite straightforward. However, proper socialization from a young age is critical to avoid potential behavior issues, such as excessive barking or anxiety.
A fully grown Toy Poodle will typically weigh between 4-6 pounds and stand around 10 inches tall. Remember, they remain active and playful throughout their lives, despite their small stature.
Toy Poodles are somewhat high maintenance dogs that require regular grooming due to their curly coats. Their hair will continue to grow if not regularly trimmed and might lead to matting. Despite their size, they're energetic dogs and require daily physical and intellectual engagement.
The average lifespan of a Toy Poodle is around 12-15 years, but some can live up to 18 years with good care and genetics.
The downsides of a Toy Poodle include their susceptibility to certain genetic health problems, such as eye diseases and patellar luxation. They can also turn out to be rather high strung if not sufficiently stimulated mentally, leading to potential behavior issues.
Common health problems for Toy Poodles can include progressive retinal atrophy, hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and certain heart disorders. Making sure to opt for reputable breeders who screen their breeding dogs for inheritable conditions can help prevent these potential issues.
